Coronavirus has become the most dangerous phenomenon in the world. The number of patients is growing daily and the people themselves are largely to blame. We talk about mistakes that can lead to infection with COVID-19.

Anyone can catch a COVID-19 infection, and the course of the disease for a person will be different: from mild to fatal. The virus spreads from person to person in two ways: airborne, when we inhale particles of the saliva of sneezing or coughing sick person, and contact, when we become infected through touching an object with which the patient has come into contact.

The number of infected people in Ukraine is growing daily. The disease continues to spread, and in many ways, this growth is the fault of people who neglect the simple rules of quarantine and precautions. We tell in detail about the most popular mistakes that can lead to infection with a dangerous virus.

Poor hygiene

In the fight against coronavirus, a lot depends on us. To avoid catching an infection, it is important to practice hand hygiene. And you need to approach the matter with all seriousness. The virus enters our body through the mucous membranes. Just by scratching your eyes, nose, or touching your mouth with dirty hands, we help the infection to get inside.

In addition, coronavirus particles can remain on hard surfaces such as doorknobs, supermarket carts, elevator or intercom buttons. Try to wash your hands regularly and thoroughly, lathering them for at least twenty seconds. If you are not at home, treat your hands with a special antiseptic. Teach yourself and children to use protective equipment after contact with surfaces, and even better, wear gloves.

Cover your mouth with your hand when coughing/sneezing

Be sure to get rid of this bad habit. It greatly increases the risk of contracting the coronavirus. Correctly sneezing and coughing into the elbow – then there is less chance of infecting the nasal cavity or mouth.

Poor disinfection

Coronavirus can be in anyone and on anything: on a package of pasta, a pack of chips, or a bottle of water. To protect yourself and loved ones, thoroughly disinfect all food bags brought home, and only then put them in the refrigerator.

Incorrect wearing of a mask

Today, the mask is the main attribute of the everyday image of a person. Without a protective mask, you cannot enter a store, a pharmacy, or a medical facility. It is no secret that it is more expedient to wear it to a sick person so as not to spread the infection. However, it also provides minimal protection and reassurance to healthy people. However, improper use of the mask will render it useless.

How to wear a mask correctly?

  • Make sure the mask covers your nose, mouth and chin
  • Change the mask every two hours.
  • When removing or putting on a mask, hold on to the elastic bands or ties, not the fabric backing.
  • A disposable mask should be thrown away immediately after use, and hands should be washed or treated with an antiseptic.
  • Reusable masks after use, be sure to wash at maximum temperature, dry and iron.

Insufficient ventilation of living quarters

The best environment for any infection is a room with dry air. Try to regularly ventilate your home, do wet cleaning, cleaning the most polluted and dusty places. Moms with small children are advised to get a humidifier.

Failure to comply with the rules of self-isolation

The most common and fatal mistake among the population. You think that the coronavirus will not affect you if you sit in the yard, go to the forest for a barbecue or have a picnic with friends outside the city. Well, yes, you know them, they are you – they are all supposedly healthy. Only people with such reasoning – hundreds of thousands. And some of them are sick without knowing it.

Symptoms of COVID-19 may not appear until 5-7 days after infection, and before that, a person will simply walk and spread the virus among people. Hence the number of infected people.

Try not to leave the house unnecessarily during quarantine, and when going to the store, use all the necessary precautions: from a mask and gloves to washing hands and antiseptic.
