“Removing Bish’s lumps is just stupid!” – the opinion of a plastic surgeon

The popular operation to remove Bish’s lumps is dangerous and fraught with irreversible consequences. And this is not said by gossips and envious women, but by plastic surgeons! Read and think: do you need it?

Removal of Bish’s lumps – what kind of operation

Bish’s lumps are not always completely removed – the amount of tissue removed depends on the result that the patient expects to receive. There is a way when the surgeon not only removes Bish’s lumps, but moves them to the cheekbones, and in this way the face is even more tightened and takes on relief.

Removal is possible in two ways: traditional (that is, with a scalpel) and laser.

How is the operation

The operation is carried out according to the following scheme:

  • The patient is given anesthesia (often general, but there may be local anesthesia);
  • The skin and mucous membranes of the cheeks are disinfected with an antiseptic;
  • On the inner side of each, a 1-2 cm incision is made in the center;
  • Through them, the doctor gains access to fat lumps, which he removes completely or partially or moves higher;
  • The incisions are sutured with biodegradable sutures.

Laser radiation allows you to perform the intervention faster. With its help, the risk of bleeding is reduced, since the laser immediately coagulates the vessels. Therefore, when using it, bischectomy is done more often under local anesthesia (anesthetic injection into the mucous membrane of each cheek). The operation is performed under sterility.

If you do not know the history of medicine, then the interest in removing Bish’s lumps could be amazing. But there was bloodletting, mercury treatment, lobotomy in the treatment of depression… Vitality was restored by rectal smoking!!!

What effect to expect when removing Bish’s lumps

In the 21st century, trends are spreading virally, via Instagram (the social network is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation): they cut the cheek, and here we have a socialite with chiseled cheekbones and the sexy face of a lady vamp.

In fact, after removing Bish’s lumps, the face changes in a maximum of 20 out of 100 girls, in those who have a really hypertrophied amount of fatty tissue. For the remaining 80, a placebo is triggered: “I did it” is enough to be satisfied.

From the point of view of aesthetics, there are no indications for the removal of Bish’s lumps, and cannot be. This is a pointless intervention, the same as removing the 8th and 7th teeth to highlight the cheekbones.

Cons of the operation to remove Bish’s lumps

In general, this operation is not in the arsenal of a plastic surgeon; it remained in the textbooks of the 20th century. We are busy with more meaningful issues, for example, how to stay young and do it as efficiently as possible with minimal stress on the body. But incising and extracting lumps of fat from the cheeks is definitely easier than performing a modern, minimally invasive, and effective operation. Therefore, it is beneficial for someone to call nonsense a “star procedure”. You don’t have to specialize for years, or master modern techniques – just learn how to cut out Bish’s lumps, call yourself a plastic surgeon and start an appointment.

A professional plastic surgeon will never offer you to simply get rid of adipose tissue. He will find a way to effectively apply it for volumetric plastic surgery of the same cheekbones, chest, or hips, or with the age-related omission of the oval of the face. He also knows that 5-7 years after the removal of Bish’s lumps, unnatural mimic wrinkles will form in the center of the cheek. The lump of adipose tissue provided by nature is no longer there, and the skin begins to “tighten” as if into a funnel in place of the former lump of Bish. We call this “granny’s failure” because similar changes occur in older people whose cheek falls under the cheekbone due to the absence of their own teeth.

Bish’s lump is formed in infancy. Familiar desire to pull the “baby doll” on the cheek? But the baby doll is growing up, and it seems to him that his face is round, ugly, and unfashionable. I would like to replace the expression of childish naivety with fashionable sunken cheeks. But if the baby bears for a couple of years, the cheeks harmonize naturally. The rest of the fat will come in handy.

For example, after 40 years, when the middle zone of the face loses volume, the clarity of the facial contour disappears. It is more rational to replenish it with the patient’s own fatty tissues than with artificially created fillers or implants. There is no risk of rejection, allergic reactions, or unpleasant side effects. This is the basis of fat grafting and liposculpture methods.

An alternative to removing Bish’s lumps

What do the stars, who have perfect cheekbones, do not form any dips, and at the same time achieve the effect of a “slightly retracted” cheek? Definitely not the removal of Bish’s lumps.

Without an incision, through a skin puncture, the thinnest silicone threads are inserted under the skin and “anchored” in it. By stretching them, the corners of the lips are captured, so fervently raised corners of the lips are obtained, and a slightly sunken cheek (due to the tension of the threads) and an emphasized high cheekbone, as the thread lifts the tissues up. The effect is achieved without removing anything, and the natural state of the tissues also does not change, there are no scars or any traces of correction. The operation does not affect facial expressions – the face retains a living human appearance. The effect lasts from 3 to 5 years, but it can be removed by removing the threads, and strengthened by pulling it up again after this period. Of course, the manipulation is complex and requires additional specialization of the doctor.”
