Lyudmila, tell us what hypnosis is and how it helps to enter a resourceful state?

Hypnosis is a state of consciousness of a certain quality, that belongs to the so-called group of an altered state of consciousness. Altered and different from the one in which we are most of the time, that is, the waking state. During hypnosis, a significant (more or less) part of our attention is directed inward. We can say that hypnosis is a focused state that helps to touch our unconscious. Milton Erickson, the American psychiatrist who developed Ericksonian hypnosis, believed that the unconscious is the inner reservoir of our resources, intuition, and knowledge, and it has everything we need.

How, while learning Ericksonian hypnosis, can one change a non-resource state into a resource one?

This is quite possible. This is the state of our psyche and the natural property of our nervous system, which helps to quickly change a non-resource state to a resource one.

How to learn to focus and imagine yourself in a different state?
If a person is strongly focused on the current negative state, which is not very comfortable and unresourceful, it can be difficult for him to abstract, which is also one of the bad habits. Many people get used to experiencing a negative state, then it is reinforced in another situation and becomes a habit. For example, a person reacts the same way all the time: “This is boring”, and “this is not very interesting”, “again a dull day”, “there is no sun in the sky”. By the way, complaining about one thing or another is one of the bad habits.

How to get rid of a bad habit?

First, it is worth realizing and making a decision that it is this habit that prevents a person from living a much happier and more resourceful life. Disagree with yourself to have this habit. And then you can practice and perform such an exercise. Prepare a sheet of paper, divide it into two parts and observe yourself and your thoughts during the day. As soon as some kind of non-resource thought appears, write it down and then ask yourself, what is good about it? For example, it is very sad that there is no sun in the sky. Ask yourself, “OK, no sunshine. What’s good about that?” – Try to answer: “It helps to remember that the sun is inside me.” After all, the solar plexus is called the solar plexus for a reason. It is worth imagining that inside oneself – in the chest the sun shines and I – this is the sun. By the way, this is a key ability for imagination. We all have the ability to learn, and this ability should be developed in a positive way. When we clearly imagine such a picture, get used to it, and vividly live this state, this is the state of hypnosis.
