Today’s children are increasingly choosing a computer or game console instead of a book. Whether this is good or bad is for the parents to decide. In any case, the student must follow a certain program. An important part of it is a list of literature for summer reading. How to get a little fidget to exchange walks in the yard and shooting games in computer games for boring reading alone?
You must understand that you can not instill a love of books by force. If you force your child to read and scold him when he refuses to do so, it is likely that he will never develop an interest in literature. Are there “safe” ways to force a book on a baby so that he then asks for another one?
Find an incentive
You can come up with a kind of reward for each book or chapter you read. Moreover, it is better to refuse cash bonuses. Let the incentive for the child be something related to his hobbies. For example, a computer or board game, a collectible figurine, a set of pencils.
Pick the right cover
Children, as a rule, have to borrow books for summer reading from the library. Yellowed pages, Soviet illustrations, and a crumbling binding are unlikely to add to the desire of a son or daughter to get acquainted with the desired work. Take your child to a bookstore. Beautiful books of modern publishers can be real entertainment and a valuable gift for a baby. Let him choose a book whose cover attracts him
Go to nature
Sitting within four walls in front of a book, when your friends are playing and laughing outside the window, is another test. To prevent the child from being so lonely, invite him to go to the country or, for example, to the beach. Reading can even be combined with a trip to the sea. If it is not possible to go out of town or into nature, invite the child to take the book into the yard and captivate friends with the plot. Based on the work, you can come up with a fun game – treasure hunting or saving Mu-mu. Turn on your imagination and take the initiative!
Look for an alternative
Think back to school. Surely on your conscience, there are still several unread works that you could not bring yourself to master. Indeed, there are books that are difficult and uninteresting for a child to read. But that’s no reason to skip your summer reading list! Just find an alternative way to experience history. For example, invite your child to watch a film adaptation, go together to a performance staged based on the work. If the kid is interested, he will definitely want to read the book – in order to immerse himself in a fascinating story even more.
Change format
Today, a book does not have to be paper. Encourage your child to read using a tablet or e-reader. Modern children master all kinds of gadgets faster, and therefore a non-standard book can especially captivate a student.
