19-year-old Aimee Rouski decided to share her unseen pain, posting a photo of her crotch on Facebook. And this, for a good cause. Sometimes an image is more telling than a written testimony: by exposing her scars to the eyes of her subscribers and beyond, the young woman decided to tell what she suffered because of this Crohn’s disease and how she suffered it. accepted.
Through her testimony on Facebook, Aimee describes what this chronic infection entails on a daily basis, and in particular on a medical level: “A person with this disease will undergo many treatments and will eventually undergo surgery. And that’s what I want to talk about. I had a bowel resection.”
The one who underwent three surgeries continues her thought as follows: “I have always been comfortable with what happened to me, but some people really have a hard time accepting these things. If you don’t tell others, no one will ever notice your illness and if you tell the people you love, they won’t abandon you, but they will always be there to support you. You don’t have to be ashamed of your illness”.
Additionally, a bag was applied to collect faeces. “I decided to write this post because I noticed that people didn’t know anything about this disease and other invisible diseases (…) People often think that I only had to deal with just a stomach ache, when in fact this disease could kill me.”
