We present the winners of the AWARDS 2016 at the European level, without a doubt the most innovative model of Aarstiderne has triumphed

In Europe, there are now many brands and companies, retailers and e-commerce, that are at the forefront of e-commerce.

While some of these brands are innovating within the geographical limits of their countries, others are more ambitious and are making commitments in foreign markets.

A good part of these innovative companies, and the work they do, are not always visible to the industry. With the European Ecommerce AWARDS 2016, we want to recognize these great players in current electronic commerce throughout Europe. Its actions are innovative and generate change and evolution in the electronic commerce sector in the European framework.

Awards and jury of the Ecommerce AWARDS

The jury that was awarded the European Ecommerce AWARDS has been made up of representatives of the different national juries. The criteria that are taken into account for the awards are based on variables such as innovation, evolution and change, originality, and entrepreneurial actions.

The European Electronic Commerce Awards ceremony took place during the World Summit on Electronic Commerce held at the CCIB in Barcelona from May 30 to June 1.

Remember that the World E-Commerce Summit is the annual global event that brings together retailers, e-commerce experts from emerging markets, and participating brands, nominated for awards. The 2016 summit was the eighth edition. The next edition will take place in Barcelona, in June 2017.

To award the Pure-Players and Omni-channel awards, the members of the jury used different audits on Experiences in Online Stores and Omnichannel, as a starting point, in their deliberation.

Denmark’s Aarstiderne won gold. One Piece (Norway) and Chic by Choice (Portugal) took silver and bronze respectively.

Entrepreneur Award for  Aarstiderne

The first prize was hotly contested. There were several applicants, very powerful, who aspired to the highest award. The jury considered and debated the most innovative brand, the one that has contributed the most to the e-commerce sector, the most original in its actions. The entrepreneurial spirit of the firm has also been valued.

Aarstiderne was one of five food-related businesses to present at the summit, demonstrating that the food industry is not only seamlessly integrating into e-commerce, but outperforming other sectors in terms of innovations and results.

In a reference note on Entrepreneur Award winner Aarstiderne, the jury literally said: “Aarstiderne is taking on the challenge of overcoming the inherent difficulty of shortening the delivery chain from producer to consumer; and he is doing it in a green, transparent and profitable way.”

It should be remembered that  www.aarstiderne.com   is a subscription sales system, as well as home delivery of goods, which weekly offers consumers boxes of fresh organic fruit and vegetables managed by different Danish producers. The management company apparently controls a significant and growing part of the market for organic fruit and vegetables in Denmark.

Do not expect to see a great website visiting the site, what is successful and what has been awarded in this project is the business model that is undoubtedly very innovative.

Food services to institutions

Although organic home-grocery products via the Internet have yet to take off in a definitive way, catering and institutional catering are expanding and considerable growth is anticipated in the future.

One of the improvements that are missing is appropriate distribution systems, although it seems that some distributors are organizing themselves to take advantage of the possibilities that arise in this sector.

Silver and bronze in European Ecommerce AWARDS 2016

One Piece of Norway won silver, thanks to a socially engaging approach and the ability to fully identify and understand its market for sports and comfort wear. After some especially difficult years, this brand has been able to recover its position and innovative spirit.

The bronze goes to Chic by Choice from Portugal, representing the true sense of entrepreneurial spirit. Driven by a young entrepreneur, this company is knowing how to reinterpret an already proven concept for the European market. The online sale of clothes.
