FIX WINDOWS 10 PROBLEMS

According to the Microsoft Knowledgebase article, the update eliminates the following Windows 10 error.

  • Addresses an issue that causes a Denial of Service vulnerability on Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV). See CVE-2020-26784 for more information.

UPDATES PROBLEM

The following known issues with this update are already known:

For devices with Windows installations created from custom offline media or custom ISO images, this update may remove Microsoft Edge Legacy but will not automatically replace it with the new Microsoft Edge. This issue only occurs when custom offline media or ISO images are created by slipstreaming this update into the image without first installing the March 29, 2021, or later Servicing Stack Standalone Update (SSU).

Note: Devices connected directly to Windows Update to receive updates are not affected. This includes devices using Windows Update for Business. Any device that connects to Windows Update should always get the latest versions of the SSU and Latest Cumulative Update (LCU) without any additional steps.

To avoid this issue, make sure you first insert the SSU released on March 29, 2021, or later into the offline custom media or ISO image before inserting the LCU. To do this with the combined SSU and LCU packages now used for Windows 10 version 20H2 and Windows 10 version 2004, you need to extract the SSU from the combined package. To extract the SSU, do the following:

Extract the cab from the MSU using this command line (using the package for KB5000842 as an example):

Extract the SSU from the previously extracted cab using this command line:

You will then get the SSU cab, in this example named SSU-19041.903-x64.cab. Transfer this file to your offline image first and then to the LCU.
