Roll your lip, roll it back! To be honest, when this song first appeared on TikTok, we could not even imagine that someone would take it into service – and in the truest sense of the word.
We are talking about a new beauty fad from Instagram (the social network is recognized as extremist and banned on the territory of the Russian Federation). Oh, it hurts to even look at it…
Perfect lips beckon. And what girls don’t do in pursuit of this ideal, for example, they “stick” them. And no, we’re not talking about the dangerous glue trick that mimics the popular bullhorn operation to lift and enlarge the upper lip. Now cosmetologists have adopted and altered taping that has become fashionable for their own purposes. They take and… stick strips on their clients’ lips, promising them everything at once: non-surgical enlargement, clear contour, and bright color. And the girls, hoping to put off expensive and painful “beauty injections”, gladly agree to these “teip-lips“.
Of course, it’s already good that they don’t use stationery tape for this, but special tapes for face correction. And then we know these “gray” cosmetologists and their terrible methods – they are much for everything! We do not argue, it sounds tempting to walk for two hours a day with glued lips, instead of putting on fillers. Yes, and this really showed their high efficiency – at least in terms of weight loss and wrinkle correction. But something told our beauty intuition that not everything is as simple and rosy with them as in

I myself sometimes use tape to fix the results of a massage, if I need to prolong the effect of the procedure. So yes, under certain conditions it can help.
If the tips are placed correctly, properly “anchoring” them, then the volume of the lips can be slightly increased. But it’s more likely to be just an optical illusion.
How it works
It’s simple: tips fixed after the massage improve blood circulation in this area and reduce swelling of the face, and against this background, the lips look more voluminous. But this is a slight increase, which is easier to obtain with the help of plumpers – special lip glosses containing warming (or, conversely, ultra-cooling) essential oils and plant extracts, such as mint oil or cinnamon oil. If we talk about getting volume due to taping, then this is simply swelling. Yes, my clients also notice an increase in lip volume after taping the face in general. But the same change can be seen after a buccal or plastic facial massage and almost all intensive massages that affect the area of the orbicularis muscle and the zygomatic minor muscle, the muscle that lifts the upper lip, and so on.
I’m not sure that this is justified on an ongoing basis, and even more so safe, because, I repeat, in fact, such a volume is lymphedema. But it is the stagnation of the lymph that we always try to avoid.
It is important to remember that the direct purpose of trips is to fix muscles and relieve swelling, and there are clear indications for their use. Yes, and the procedure must be performed by a qualified expert who has undergone special training.
Lip volume can be increased in several ways. The first is the introduction of foreign substances into the tissues, which will be there all the time, well, these are ordinary and already familiar to everyone fillers. The second way is more extreme – by achieving swelling of these tissues, for example, due to an allergic reaction to an insect bite or traumatic injury. There is no other way to increase the volume!
Tapes just create such a state of traumatic injury that there is an accumulation of interstitial fluid – lymph. This procedure does not improve health for one simple reason: where there is stagnation, there is inflammation, this is how our body works. And, of course, we cannot expect anything good by causing artificial inflammation. There is no other way to increase the volume!
A few more pitfalls. Be careful!
Gray cosmetologists first strongly shake the lips of their clients, introducing too much filler, and then put such a “bandage” for a couple of hours.
They explain this by saying that the procedure will help maintain the “perfect” shape of the lips and prevent the migration of the filler. But in fact, puffiness is added – in the hope that it will somehow correct itself. Bypass such non-specialists and their strange methods!
